French: Colors by A. Bree Stillings

Step 1Class discussion with students

Getting Started

Students will want to share information about themselves and their possessions when meeting French teenagers. When teaching colors, review the position of the adjectives after the noun. Also note the forms of the colors to match gender and number. It is important to note how some colors do not change their endings: orange for example.

Opening Discussion

Warm the students up with a "Quelle Couleur" verbal activity. While holding up or pointing to various objects around the class, pose the question verbally and allow students to answers with the French forms of each color. Another fun activity for listening comprehension is the "Peppa Pig - L'Arc En Ciel" video: LinkText

Step 3Concluding discussion with students

Reinforce color vocabulary and adjective placement by describing objects in the classroom with their colors. This could be completed as a written assessment or as a multi media presentation.
