Modern-day elf world.

Modern-day elf world.

City of Lagoona. 9:07 am.

City of Lagoona. 9:07 am.

Somewhere downtown.

Somewhere downtown.

This guy just doesn't give up.

Don't matter. As long as I keep moving around, he'll never catch me.

huff

huff

huff

NO!

Hey! There you are!

Hehehe ... Not so lucky this time around, huh? Just give it up already. That's a dead-end right there, sister.

Why don't you just hand it over?

If you do, I'll leave ya alone.. probably

Or what? You gonna hurt me? Hah!

Don't get any closer!

Hand ... it ... over.

So, I'll give you one last chance.

Nah, to me, a thief is just a thief.

Just cause you're a woman doesn't mean I'll go easy on you.

I ain't handin over nothin, mister.

I don't even know whatcha talking about.

Wrong answer.

RAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

You had your chance. Now, I'm gonna beat it out of you.

oh no! If I get hit again, it'll be all over.

BLARHHGG!!

take this!

AHHHRRGGGG!!!

Jerk! Almost snapped my neck. You're not the only one who can use magic.

Hah! You're a lot weaker than I thought.

Guess, I won't have to worry about you anymore.

Won't be seein ya again, loser!

GOTCHA!!

no!

Earlier that morning.

Earlier that morning.

Let's see. Our client said that it should be around here somewhere.

Um, Pete. What does our client want again?

huh?

Hey! Don't call me by my first name!

We're working right now. You should call me Chief.

Oh! Sorry. You're right.

Got it, detective Hei?

I mean, yes, Chief!

That's good, detective. So, you were saying?

Yes. I just wanted to know more about our first case, Chief.

Yeah, I was also surprised when our company's office turned out to be my home.

I mean, I really wasn't expecting a call right after I published your number..erm, I mean, our company number. Guess, being around you, makes me real lucky.

Ah! Sorry, I didn't get the chance to discuss it with you before. I just got so excited about our first case it completely slipped my mind.

Oh come on. I told you, it's only temporary. Once we get more clients, then we'll be able to have our very own office in no time. So don't worry about it. I got it all figured out.

And just so you know, I really had a hard time getting those detective licences. And those business cards too, they turned out really cool don't you think?

Right now, our first priority is to help people as soon as possible. We have to sacrifice some things for the greater good. Right?

Yeah. They're cool.

You're right Chief. Thanks.

I know. Plus you're already one step closer to becoming a real hero. Just like that police officer who saved your life.

You're very welcome, DE-TEC-TIVE.

Now then. Our first case is a simple one. We are to locate a man named Roland Anthony Tanner. And when we do find him, we are to find out where he lives, where he works, who his friends are, and where he hangs out.

Right now, we need to go to this address that our client gave us beacuse, according to his sources, that was the last place that this Roland fellow was last seen two nights ago. It's the best place to begin our investigation and a pretty good training ground for you as a detective. It's a win-win situation for us.

I think the kid is right. I'm not really good with directions. Last time, I ran into a dead-end too.

Nah, whatever, I'll just trust my instincts. I have to look good in front of Tip. I'm sure I'll come up with something by then.

Is that so?

Um, Chief, I think we already went this way before.

You're very perceptive, detective. I intended to walk this path again because I saw something that might lead us right into what we're looking for.

Sorry. As my Junior Detective, you have to figure that out yourself. How will you become a better detective if I keep telling you all the answers? Like I said, think of this as training.

What would that be, Chief?

Hmm. Look for clues. There should be clues everywhere. I have to look for something unusual. Something that is out of place. hmm. I should think like a detective.

Oh, right! Yes, Chief! I can do this.

Heh. I really didn't think he'd fall for that one. But I guess, he really is still a kid.

Yes, Chief! But I didn't find anything yet.

That's a good attitude, detective. Keep it up and let's move on!

That's okay. Don't worry. You'll just have to learn from your mistakes and improvise. It'll all make sense later on, trust me.

I think this is the place. I'll ask around for some info. Why don't you take note of the surroundings while I'm gone okay?

Yes, Chief!

Let's see. Our client said that it should be around here somewhere.

Minutes later.

Minutes later.

So? How'd you do?

Chief. I've found out that in this area there are two restaurants, a meat shop, a barber shop, a shoe store, 3 apartment buildings and an abandoned building.

Okay. And?

Oh, there's this guy that kept following me around. I didn't get to see his face because everytime I turned around he disappears. But I'm pretty sure I'm being followed because I can sense it. So...

I thought about asking someone but I remembered that you told me to just take note.

And there are 5 parked cars. 2 parked near one of the restaurants and 3 near one of the apartment buildings. There aren't many people walking around and I also didn't see a lot of people inside the shops either. But the people that I noticed avoided me. I think they're shy or something.

too much information kid.

Do you want to know the colors of the parked cars, Chief?

Chief?

huh?

Oh yeah. I mean, no. No need to go into the details now. Good job detective!

Me? Well...

Thanks, Chief! How about you? Did you find anything?

Not much. But just enough.

There's something written on it but most of the writing have been smudged off.

And look, how lucky. I found a clue.

Chief! I think I also found a clue. Look.

Bummer, it's just an old piece of receipt. Useless.

It looks like a badge of some sort. Has the number 13 etched on it. It's definitely a clue.

Oh? What's that?

So cool!

Let me see.

It's pretty though.

Hmm. It's not real gold. Wouldn't be worth anything.

But, sorry, it's just a peice of fancy jewelry or some cheap accessory from a halloween costume. It's nothing important.

It has a name at the back. But it's pretty useless. Just throw it in the trash.

Oh.

Wait. A name? It's probably the owner's name.

And if it is, then we should return it!

Impossible. Not to mention that it would be a waste of our time. We don't need that. It's not the clue we were looking for anyway.

But Chief! What if the owner is looking for this right now? I'm sure this must be really important.

Well, sorry to disappoint you. But that thing doesn't have the person's address or even a contact number.

Doesn't even have this person's complete name. Just says Balam. That doesn't even sound like a real name to me. More like a nickname. Or could it even be a pet's name?

Oh. I guess you're right.

Ah, whatever! Like I said, it's a waste of time.

Don't worry. If you really want to return it to its owner then just keep it with you for now. I promise, when we finish our case, we'll drop by the police station and place it in the lost and found.

That sounds great, Chief!

So, if the owner is really looking for it, all he has to do is check up at the police station and problem solved.

I know. I'm a genius.

Let's go.

Ow!

*bump

Excuse me.

Heh. Got it.

You okay?

Yeah, I'm fine.

Hey, you there!

I'm the best pick-pocket, ever. Nobody can see through my technique unless you use magic.

No! Did he notice me? No, he couldn't have. I picked that kid off perfectly.

But if he did, I'll have no choice but to make a run for it.

You...

You should watch where you're going, young lady. You almost caused an accident.

hmm..

Something wrong, Chief?

No.

Everything's fine, Tip.

You're right, but right now, we'll be going undercover. So, it'll be best if we use just our first names.

Um.. I thought we're not supposed to use our first names when we're working.

Right.

This is going to be exciting. Follow me.

Shhh. Keep it down. We're tailing someone right now. But don't worry, I think the chase is about to end pretty soon.

Pete, how long are we gonna keep running around?

Even better.

Cool. Will this lead us to that guy we were looking for?

Present.

Present.

GOTCHA!!

no!

HAHAHAHA! Serves you right!

That was one heck of a blast.

Hello.

Who ... who are you?

Oh. Me?

I'm Detective Pete Churchwright! The Best Detective in town! Also known as the "Guy who doesn't like bullies."

I also really hate guys who use magic against women.

This is none of your business! That woman over there stole something from me and I need it back.

But if you're gonna stand in my way then I got no choice but to deal with you too.

You've messed with the wrong guy today, buddy. You're so going to regret standing in my way.

Oh, but I think you're the one who's going to have regrets...

the action scenes are so colorful and active but I have a question to ask.....I always thought elves were nature based so they would have cities in magic trees or something.

I might be wrong about that.

blessedjohn

blessedjohn 2 yrs ago from Philippines

Thanks. Great question. Actually you're right, in this world most elves still are very nature based. It's just that some parts of the elf world, elves depend on technology more rather than magic and nature. Lagoona city is one of those cities in elf world where magic isn't such a big deal anymore. Anyway, thanks for asking, I'll have to make the next few episodes explain some things about what elf world really is. Thanks again! :)
